I found the tray at the container store. This is the small stacking tray (91/2" x 61/2" x 13/8").
(Their store off 4th street is amazing!)
The blue painter's tape served as a easy guide. My original idea was going to paint the print white, but went with black spray paint.
I did the first coat and let it dry overnight. I applied the second coat this morning before I left for work and it was dry when I came home this evening.(Total dry time was about 24 hours)
Even looks stunning with that blue painter's tape!I was careful in removing the tape- but turns out that the paint served as a great stencil.
Looking at it now, I wish I had reversed everything. It seems like the clear bottom of the tray overpowers the black chevron print... oh well! I have another larger tray I may try a different pattern on.When RC came home, he said 'This is cool- it looks like Charlie Brown's t-shirt'! Aye! Not exactly my inspiration for the project. I haven't found a home for this diy project piece yet, but I know that it will be perfect for holding 'things' that tend to pile up around here.
so- what do you think? is chevron for you?

Very nifty...I like!
